My boyfriend and I are thinking about visiting Vietnam, because we’re both fascinated by this beautiful country. We saw that Tour East Holidays is offering interesting Vietnam tours, but we’ve never traveled with a tour guide before and we’re wondering if we would like it, or if it would be better for us to plan our own trip and to travel alone.

Have you ever traveled with a tour guide, and if so, was it a good experience for you?

You’re so lucky! I never even left Canada in my life… I would love to go and visit Europe, but my budget is so tight I know I’ll never be able to afford it.

So I don’t know about traveling with a tour guide, but it sounds to me like it would be a good way to explore a new country, with someone to guide you and make sure you see and do everything you are interested in!

I think if you’ve never been to a place before, it’s nice to have a guide to show you around and help make sure your trip is filled with the type of experiences you’d like to live. Of course, planning your own trip on your own can also be fun, but it’s also a lot of work and I think you could be missing out on a lot of great opportunities.

I already went on a China tour with Tour East, and I remember I was hesitating because I was also interested in their Vietnam tours!

My tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, I was with a small group and we had a lot of fun with our guide. I think tour guides are very insightful and they can really help you make the most of any adventure, so if I were you I would definitely go on a guided tour!

What’s great with Tour East is that you can customize your experience to make sure you get to see everything you want to see. And of course, even if you travel with a guide, you can still get some time on your own to explore and walk around and really take in the sights.

I think hiring a tour guide is great because most of the time they live in the country you want to visit, and they speak the language. They have a good knowledge of the areas to visit and they can answer your questions, and if you have any problem to make a reservation or to get a permit for an activity, they can help you and take care of it for you.

One thing I don’t like with guided tours is that the guides have a schedule to keep so they might be ready to leave a site long before you are, so that can be a bit frustrating. Of course some tours offer more flexibility than others, but I’ve been on a guided tour where the schedule was way too packed and as a result we didn’t really have the time to see anything.

I see… Yeah, that’s one thing my boyfriend is worried about, that we will be rushed and won’t have time to see everything we want to see.

But I like the things that many of you have said here, and I think we will give it a try and see how it goes with a tour guide. So thank you for the advice!
