I’ve been living in Toronto for 6 months now. It’s such a great city, there’s so much to see and do!

My 8 years old son keeps telling me he would like to take dance classes, but they are not offering anything that interests him in our neighbourhood. Do you know of any studio that offers dance classes for children? My son just wants to move and to have fun and make new friends, I don’t think his goal is to become a professional dancer some day, but hey, you never know!

There are many studios in Toronto that offer dance classes for children! Is your son interested in learning a particular type of dance, or he just really wants to dance?

That might sound a little bit odd, maybe, but he is interested in tap dancing! I don’t know if it’s possible to find tap dancing classes for children, but if not, I guess he could like modern dance too.

I don’t think that’s odd, I think that’s amazing! I recommend the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, they offer different dance classes, and they do have tap dance for children.

They have classes for children that are 6 and older, so your son should be able to make at least a few friends! If for some reason you don’t think this is a good option, I can help you find another dance studio. I’m passionate about dancing and I know a few dance teachers in Toronto!

That’s perfect! Thank you so much, it sounds like a great dance studio and I’ll get in touch with them really soon. My son will be so happy about this!

You’re welcome! I’m a bit curious, how did your son develop an interest in tap dancing?

It all started when he was watching old musicals with his grandma, a year ago. In one musical, there was an impressive tap dancing number, and it really caught his attention and he kept saying he wanted to dance like the people on the screen!

At first I thought he wasn’t serious about it, but he kept talking about it and he told me he would like to take dance classes.

Aw, that’s such a cute story! I hope he has fun taking those classes!

It really is a cute story! I know the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, my oldest daughter has been taking ballet classes there for a few years.

I think they really have the best teachers, and they have classes for all ages. They also have classes for adults of course, if you’re interested!

Ha, no, dancing is definitely not for me! I sometimes feel like I have two left feet!

I showed their website to my son, and he was really excited about it. I love seeing my boy so happy! I completed his registration form and sent it out this morning. Thank you for directing me towards this dance school!

You’re welcome! I’m glad your son is happy!

I also used to think I had two left feet, but one of my friends convinced me to take dance classes with her, and even though I really struggled at first, after a few classes I was able to follow and I had so much fun. Unfortunately, I had to stop after a few months because it didn’t work with my schedule anymore.

Anyway, I’m glad you have found the perfect dance classes for your boy! I hope he’ll have a lot of fun and make new friends!
